5 Ways COVID Changed Internal Audit Forever

In almost every industry, the COVID-19 pandemic has
changed how we work — and audit, risk, and
compliance  is no different. But which of these
changes are  temporary,  and which are here
to stay?

AuditBoard and Richard Chambers surveyed 175 chief
audit executives from a variety of industries about what
they think the long-term impacts of COVID will be on
their businesses and the profession as a whole. Some
of the five key findings include:
  • 83% of CAEs will use innovative new ways to
gather and analyze evidence.
  • 91% believe technology will continue to play
an important role in internal audit processes.
  • 72% said they will put a greater focus on
emerging risks and their possible impacts.

Find out more CAE predictions for the future of internal audit
in Richard Chambers’ article analyzing the results.

  1. No clear leadership for the effort.
  2. Obtaining stakeholder buy-in.
  3. Lack of visibility into gaps.
  4. Developing a common controls framework.
  5. Inefficiencies from decentralized systems.
